Tender Water Journeys: My Favourite Places to Find Stillness
There’s something about water-especially when it’s calm, cool, and quietly flowing — that softens even the harshest noise inside us. In moments when the world feels too fast, I find myself drawn to water. Not the wild, crashing kind. But the gentle sort. The Tender Water.
Over the years, I’ve sought out
these places — corners of the earth where water moves slowly, breathes softly,
and holds space for stillness. Here are a few of my favorite tender water
destinations, each one a quiet sanctuary for reflection and renewal.
1. Lake Bled, Slovenia
Tucked in the Julian Alps, Lake
Bled feels like it was pulled from a dream. Early in the morning, when mist
hovers over the Coconut Water Shop and the
church on Bled Island rings its bell, the whole lake seems to exhale. I spent
three days there once, rising with the sun and rowing across the still surface.
The silence felt ancient. The water, sacred.
2. The Japanese Onsen in Kinosaki
Kinosaki is not just a town — it’s
a rhythm. A ritual. Wandering from one bathhouse to the next in a yukata robe,
you become a quiet part of the town’s flow. The hot, mineral-rich waters of the
onsens are not only healing, but deeply humbling. Here, I learned to do
nothing. Just sit. Just soak. Just be.
3. Glendalough, Ireland
Nestled in the Wicklow Mountains,
Glendalough is a glacial valley where two lakes meet. The ruins of a
6th-century monastery whisper stories of solitude. When I walked the trail
around the Upper Lake, raindrops tapped the surface with a kind of music only
nature composes. Everything slowed. Even my thoughts.
Why Tender Water Matters
In a world obsessed with
productivity and noise, Coconut Water and Benefits reminds us
of the value of stillness. These places don’t shout. They don’t push. They
invite. And in that invitation, we often rediscover ourselves.
